Dr. Zahir is a board certified orthopaedic spine surgeon with an interest in endoscopic spinal procedures. He was formerly Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital from 2012-2017, and served the Southern Maryland region during that time. His interest in endoscopics led him to Virginia, where he was the first surgeon in the region to perform an endoscopic lumbar laminectomy using a newly released endoscopic device in 2017. Dr. Zahir continues to train other surgeons throughout North America on endoscopics.
Dr. Zahir completed his medical degree at the University of Maryland and subsequent residency and fellowship at the University of Maryland/Shock Trauma Center. During this time, he had an extensive experience treating spinal trauma, deformity, and degenerative spinal conditions.
