About Dr. Andrew H. Gordon

Dr. Andrew Gordon is a physician-scientist who’s fellowship-trained in primary care sports medicine and currently works with the staff of Metro Orthopedics & Sports Therapy in Silver Spring, Maryland. He partners with health care professionals, researchers, and patients alike in delivering patient-centered care.

He completed his sports medicine fellowship with Dr. Jason De Luigi at the Georgetown University School of Medicine. Since then, he has provided team medical coverage for the NWSL Washington Spirit and the George Washington and Catholic University collegiate athletics. He's also provided medical coverage the NBA Washington Wizards, the WNBA Washington Mystics, the NHL Washington Capitals, as well as spring training coverage for the Washington Nationals.

Dr. Gordon has a profound interest in running medicine, helping provide physician coverage for elite long-distance events such the Marine Corps Marathon, Baltimore Running Festival, and Army Ten-Miler road races.

Dr. Gordon received his BS in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Rochester, and his MD from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He then went on to complete his internal medicine internship at George Washington University Hospital, physiatry residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, and primary care sports medicine fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital/National Rehabilitation Hospital.

Dr. Gordon is an active member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R), Association of Academic Physiatrists, American College of Sports Medicine, American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, Spine Intervention Society, and the North American Spine Society.

Dr. Gordon has represented his specialty at the highest levels, previously serving on the Board of Governors of the AAPM&R, as well as President of the AAPM&R Resident Physician Council Board. He now serves as a sitting member of the the same academy’s Evidence, Quality, and Performance Committee. He also serves as faculty for both the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center and National Capital Sports Medicine Consortium.
