Dr. Tom Van Ornum is the Director of Physical Therapy for Metro Orthopedics and Sports Therapy. He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy and Bachelor of Science in Health Studies degrees from Boston University. As a sports medicine expert he has worked with athletes of all ages from youth sports to professional settings and has also worked extensively with the paramilitary and our nation’s warfighters. Prior to joining MOST, Dr. Tom was previously the owner of his own private practice and also served as medical director for Sparta Science, a sport science company using technology to prevent injuries and maximize athlete resiliency.
Dr. Tom is one of only a few hundred providers in the country with the CMTPT certification which are advanced credentials for dry needling for muscle, joint, and nerve pain. He has also received extensive training in various forms of biomechanical/movement examinations, joint manipulations, and soft tissue mobilizations. Aside from patient care, Dr. Tom is actively involved in health care technology and consults for a variety of digital health and medical device companies across the country.
