Phillip Omohundro, M.D.

Dr. Omohundro is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship trained in sports medicine with a special interest in knee and shoulder reconstructive surgery. A native washingtonian he has an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Dartmouth College. He completed medical school at Howard University. He completed his general surgery training at Washington Hospital Center and his orthopedic training at Howard University Hospital under Dr. Charles Epps. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio under Dr. Frank Noyes at Cincinnati Sports Medicine. He practiced with the Cincinnati Sports Medicine Group before returning to Washington and establishing Capitol Sports Medicine. Through Capitol Sports Medicine he was entrusted with the care of many local athletes and scholastic athletes. He was the university physician at Catholic University for 17 years as well as working with St. John’s College High School (he is a graduate) and H.D. Woodson High School. He has special interest in cartilage repair and transplantation techniques. In March 2009, Capitol Sports Medicine merged into Metro Orthopedics and Sports Therapy – M.O.S.T. – and will continue to operate under the M.O.S.T. name.
